Joe G. Davis, Jr.

Joe was born in Danville, Kentucky. He graduated from Davidson College in 1966 and from Vanderbilt Law School in 1969, where he was Order of the Coif and Articles Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review.  He served in the U.S. Army (U.S.A.R.) with 22 months active duty 1969-1971. He served as a Captain in Vietnam in the First Aviation Brigade where he was attached to the JAG office doing courts martial work. He received the Bronze Star for service in Vietnam.

Joe began practice in Atlanta in late 1971, doing corporate transactions along with business and securities litigation. In 1974, he began representing as outside general counsel a movie theatre exhibitor and developer in numerous southeastern states and the Caribbean. Over the years he represented four separate theatre chains in purchase, leasing, exchange, financing and development of multi-plex movie theatres covering more than 250 shopping center locations along the East Coast, South and Midwest, including public financings and sale and lease back transactions. He represented shopping center developers and individual investors in real estate ventures and developments, and has served as counsel to general contractors in construction litigation and disputes. He also represented large commercial lenders in business and development loans secured by real estate. He also represented a major title  insurance company for a number of years in title insurance claims, litigation and settlement.

He also does business consultation and planning for clients, along with estate planning, drafting wills and estate administration and settlement. Prior to joining McGee & Oxford in early 2015, he was a partner in several Atlanta law firms.

Professional Organizations and Ratings; Member State Bar of Georgia; Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rated “AV” since 1978, the highest rating given. This rating reflects “Very High to Preeminent” legal ability and “Very High” general ethical standards.

Personal:  Married since 1972 to June Metzger Davis; two married sons. Member Midtown Atlanta Rotary Club 1976-present,  President and numerous Rotary  positions; former Vice-Chair NPU-C; President and Board Member- DeBordieu Colony Community Association- 1225 members, Georgetown, SC; Volunteer in numerous community activates; Active member, Northside United Methodist Church.
